الركبة تنظير المفاصل

A small camera. A clear diagnosis. A precise repair.

Knee arthroscopy is keyhole surgery: through two incisions of a few millimetres, a camera shows the inside of the joint in high definition and the problem is treated in the same session.

نظرة عامة

Arthroscopy is the workhorse of modern knee surgery. Because the joint is not opened, the tissues around it stay undisturbed — which means less pain, less swelling and a much faster recovery than open surgery.

It is both diagnostic and therapeutic: what is found on the camera can usually be treated in the same operation, from a meniscus tear to a loose fragment of cartilage.

Is knee arthroscopy right for you?
  • Mechanical symptoms — locking, catching or a blocked knee
  • Meniscus or cartilage damage seen on MRI
  • Persistent swelling or pain despite physiotherapy
  • A loose body or inflamed joint lining

الاستعداد للعملية
  • مراجعة الأشعةBring your MRI and X-rays so the plan is set before the day
  • التأهيل قبل العمليةKeep the quadriceps active — it speeds recovery afterwards
  • Plan the dayDay-care surgery: arrange someone to drive you home
  • FastingFollow the clinic instructions for eating and drinking

Arthroscopy should never be routine. I plan every case from the imaging, treat what genuinely needs treating, and preserve tissue wherever it can be preserved — that is what protects the knee over decades, not just weeks.

Questions & Answers

How long does the operation take?
Most arthroscopies take 30 to 45 minutes. You are usually in the clinic for a few hours in total and go home the same day.
Will I need crutches?
Often for a few days only, and mainly for comfort. If a repair was performed, crutches may be needed for longer — this is explained before you leave.
When can I drive again?
Usually within 3 to 7 days, once you can brake firmly without hesitation and are off strong pain medication.
Are the scars visible?
The portals are a few millimetres wide and fade to faint marks over several months.
Will arthroscopy cure my arthritis?
No. Arthroscopy can treat mechanical problems, but it does not reverse arthritis. In arthritic knees other treatments are usually the better answer.
ما هي المخاطر؟
Complications are uncommon and include infection, stiffness, swelling and blood clots. Careful technique, early movement and prophylaxis keep the risk low.
