Month 6–9Return to contact and overhead sport*A first dislocation in a young athlete carries a high risk of recurrence. Each further dislocation damages more cartilage and bone, which is why early stabilisation is often recommended rather than waiting.
Arthroscopic Bankart repair is the standard when bone loss is minimal. Where the socket has significant bone loss, a Latarjet procedure is the more reliable choice.
